Commemoration of Eid Al Mawlid An-Nabawi at Zaouia Kadiria Boudchichia

Madagh (Berkane province), Morocco - In commemoration of Eid Al Mawlid anNabaoui [Festival of the Birthday of the Prophet], the Zaouia Kadiria Boudchichia [The Qaderi Boudchichi Sufi Order] held Saturday evening a large religious ceremony at the headquarters of the Zaouia in Madagh (about 15 km from the town of Berkane).

During the religious vigil --attended by tens of thousands of people, visitors and followers of the Zaouia [Sufi Order] from different regions of the Kingdom, and several other countries-- verses of the Holy Quran and praise to our Sayyid, the prophet Mohammed, were recited.

On this occasion, assistance of God, the Almighty, was implored to grant health, long life and glory to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful and the Sovereign and to HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Princess Lalla Khadija, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and all members of the illustrious royal family.

Supplications were also said for the repose of the soul of the late Supreme Royal Highnesses Mohammed V and King Hassan II.

The Zaouia Kadiria Boudchichia [Sufi order] also sponsored a symposium --organized on this occasion of Eid al-Mawlid Annabaoui -- the 4th World Meeting of Sufism on "Sufism and Society: Reality and Perspectives" attended by several researchers and Moroccan and foreign experts.

Participants in the symposium [including the editor in chief of Sufi News, Dr. Godlas] discussed for three days (25-27 February) the topics of "the societal dimension of Sufism", from "Sufism and crisis management" of "Sufism and socio-political dynamics" of "Sufism between the 'ethics of dialogue and culture of citizenship, "the" Sufism and the culture of diversity and difference "and" Sufism and Culture.

Moreover, social actions have been organized for the benefit of persons deprived Madagh and surrounding communities.

Thus, some 150 children have benefited from a circumcision operation, and more than 700 people have benefited Eye Clinic, of which 440 have received complimentary glasses.
